Artists Highlight: March

The members of Made In Chenango Gift Shop and Gallery invite the public to see the work of June Tyler, well known paper artist and painter, at their store from March 1 through March 31st.

At their annual meeting in January, the members agreed to showcase invited artist's this coming year and Ms. Tyler will be their first guest. June Tyler was one of the initial members of Made In Chenango thirteen years ago and MIC is pleased to have her fine work in their store once again.

June Tyler has her studio, Pondside Pulp and Paper, in Norwich New York where she works in handmade paper, printmaking and drawing. Since moving to Norwich in 1994, she has offered summer papermaking workshops in her studio. June received an M.F.A. in printmaking from Syracuse University, an M.A. in graphics and painting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.A. in Studio Art from SUNY @ Potsdam. Ms. Tyler currenlty teaches printmaking and papermaking courses at Hartwick College and drawing courses at SUNY at Oneonta. Ms. Tyler's work is quite well known in the Norwich region. For over 10 years June has exhibited in the Colorscape Chenango Festival. In 2001 June participated in a group show called "From the Earth" with local artists Duffy Hart, Bonnie Gale, Charlene Walling, Jane Coddington, Ken Reymers and Sandra Yahner at the Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries of Chenango County Council of the Arts in Norwich.
Again in 2006, the CCCA galleries featured Ms. Tyler's work as a solo retrospective exhibit where the public experienced a wide variety of her work from exhibits held at other communities and colleges. June also curated an exhibit at CCCA called "A Decade of Papermaking," that featured art created by her Pondside Pulp and Paper summer workshop students.
