David Geer – Oil Painting
Town of Unadilla
I was drawn to oil painting because of the forgiving nature and versatility of the medium as well as the extraordinary depth and richness of color that can be achieved.
I create in a realistic, colorist style, because I am interested first and foremost in color and light in my work, and secondly in the depiction of the beauty of things in the world as I see them, which means creating realistic images.
My initial instruction in oil painting was with private lessons in junior high and high school. My first instructors taught me how to do single session paintings, and my current techniques were expansions on those ideas along with a great deal of private study. I received my BA in Art with a concentration in painting from Lycoming College in Pennsylvania and intend on starting graduate studies in September of 2006.
I earn my living doing art festivals, commissions and teaching private classes.
