My careers have included critical care nursing and as a nurse educator in British Columbia Canada, then as a farmer and retailor of meat and eggs from my grass finished livestock at Sweet Grass Farm in Vernon NY. Now my husband and I live just outside Eaton NY on a small beef farm, and I'm able to work in my knitting studio Wendy Knits
Taught by Dad to hold the needles at seven, then combining decades of hand knitting know-how with Brother and Passap machine design. I favor recycled and vintage fibers for their character and sustainability, and I personalize every project—custom sizing, special colorways, and meaningful details that make each item truly unique.
I rarely meet a yarn I don't like. One of my favorite parts of the process is figuring out what each yarn wants to be – whether that's a cozy sweater, a playful children's piece, or something entirely unexpected. Farm life, nursing practicality, and a lifelong love of knitting drives each piece I create.
I am a 20-year Member of the Silver Needles Machine Knitting Club that meets monthly for knitting with like-minded individuals, for community and collaboration in Cortland NY. Over the years we have worked together at small venues to show our work, but currently all knits for Wendy and Friends Knit are designed, knit and completed by me.
